General Audition Information
The Academy at Music Theatre Wichita is excited to announce auditions for the spring 2024 and mainstage summer 2024 productions. Below you will find information and details for the upcoming opportunities. If you have remaining questions after reading this information and the attachments, please email education@mtwichita.org. Auditions will take place in MR 101 inside Century II. You will enter through the southeast side of the building (next to the Jester statue), through the Stage Door.
Gypsy
Casting Baby June, Young Louise, and several child ensemble members.
Frozen
Casting Young Anna and Young Elsa. The youth ensemble will come from The Academy’s Frozen Camp.
Matilda
Casting Matilda, Bruce, Lavendar, and child ensemble members
Rising Stars Youth Ensemble
Casting youth 13-18-year-olds for the Trust Company of Kansas Rising Stars Youth Ensemble
2024 Teen and Kid Audition Schedule
If teens and children have a headshot and resume, please bring it. This is not a requirement to audition.
Friday January 12
- Teen Singing 4:00pm-6:30pm
- Teen Dance Call 6:30pm-7:30
Saturday January 13
- Teen Singing 11:00am-1:00pm
- Children Singing Auditions 1:00pm-2:30pm
- Teen Singing 3:00pm-4:30pm
- Teen Dance Call 4:30pm-5:30pm
Sunday January 14
- Experienced Teen Dance Call 11:00am-12:00pm*
- Children Auditions 12:00pm-1:30pm
- Invited Children Dance Call 1:30pm-2:30pm**
- Invited call-backs 2:30pm-4:00pm
*This dance call is for those who consider themselves dancers and have taken multiple years of dance. The other two dance calls are for those teenagers who might not have as much (or any) dance training.
**Children will be invited to this dance call at their specified audition time. Not all children will be asked to attend this dance call. This is for the Artistic Director to see the dance abilities of certain auditioners as certain child parts in the 2024 season require advanced dancing ability.
Children Information
Children ages 8-12 will be seen in groups of 10 at a time. Please click/tap here to sign up for a time to audition.
There are additional educational opportunities through MTWichita through Teaching Artist Heidi Biever. These opportunities will be the best choice for:
-Children under the age of 8
-Children 8 and older, who may not be ready to commit to long rehearsals in the evenings through tech week
Children Selection
Children are welcome to bring their own song selection or sing this provided selection. If you choose to sing the provided selection our accompanist will have the music – no need to print it out. To be as helpful as possible we have provided the song, a recording of the notes you will be singing, and then a recording of how it will sound when singing it with the accompanist.
If you are bringing your own song, please have it printed out and in a binder. Songs need to be under 45 seconds in length!
Children will be taught a short movement combo in the lobby by our Education Intern before going into sing. Please come a few minutes early to learn the dance steps.
You are welcome to print out and fill out the following forms before you arrive at auditions, or we will have copies printed out as well. We will have staff members on hand to help with measurements and to fill out the forms. Here is a helpful video to assist with measurements so you can fill out the measurement form ahead of time.
Teens Information
